1949

Establishment of DEWITTA Spezialmaschinenfabrik (Today: Parent company of alpha)

1983

Presentation at the Hannover Fair of the first "Low-backlash planetary gear reducer" built to our own design principle

1984 Establishment of alpha getriebebau GmbH
1989 Set-up of the first foreign subsidiary "alpha réducteurs Sarl" in Paris (France)
1991  Foothold on the Asian market "alpha getriebe Ltd." in Tokyo (Japan)
1992

Launch of "alpha gear drives Inc." in Cincinnatti, USA

1996

Improved working of the Scandinavian market through "alpha drives ab" in Malmö (Sweden)
Foundation Joint venture "FAtec Co. Ltd." in Seoul (Korea)
Building of the third factory in Harthausen

1997

Own production and office building in Chicago (USA)
At the same time the worldwide sales network was expanded and the product line extended through continuous new developments

1998

alpha gearheads UK. (Great Britain) in Stoke-on-Trent was founded

1999 

50 years anniversary of WITTENSTEIN GmbH & Co. KG
15 years alpha getriebebau GmbH

2001 

WITTENSTEIN GmbH & Co. KG was transformed to WITTENSTEIN AG (not publicly traded)
Establishment of WITTENSTEIN AG in Switzerland, "alpha riduttori S.p.A." in Bresso (Italy) and "alpha getriebe" in Leobersdorf, Austria 

2002 

alpha is Winner of TOP 100 (alpha getriebe is Germany´s most innovative company 2002) and WITTENSTEIN AG is winner of TOP JOB

2003 Establishment of "Alpha Benelux B.V.B.A." in Lochristi (Belgium)
Gerhard Schröder (Chancellor  of the Federal Republic of Germany) at Hannover Fair (HMI)
2004

WITTENSTEIN AG acclaimed as Germany's top SME employer out of 118 entrants ( winning special awards for orientation towards family and social calues and for remuneration concepts) 

2005

Foundation of Chinese subsidiary alpha mechatronics Co. Ltd. in Hangzhou
Winner of N24 Good News Award, Category "Jobwunder" and Quality Award for "ETHICS IN BUSINESS"
Foundation of Romanian subsidiary WITTENSTEIN transilvania SRL near Sibiu

2006
